No. 7 Lady Bobcats whip No. 8 Illinois Central, 11-0

ELLISVILLE – No. 7 Jones County scored 11 runs in the first three innings and Rachel Hayes tossed a shutout to pace the Lady Bobcats to an 11-0, five-inning victory over No. 8 Illinois Central in game two here Saturday afternoon at Community Bank Park.
The Cougars defeated JCJC 8-3 in the opener.
The two teams also split a doubleheader on Friday as they played four games in the Gwen Magee Invitational.
Hayes allowed three hits, walked none and struck out five as she improved to 4-1.
JCJC got started quickly in the bottom of the first inning.
Kalyn Watts led off with a single, Autumn Frost reached on an error and Kelly Byrd delivered an RBI double. After Brittany Baty was hit by a pitch to load the bases, Frost scored on a wild pitch. Hayes and Ashley Valentine followed with RBI singles to give JCJC a 4-0 lead.
In the second, Frost doubled and Byrd singled. Frost scored when Byrd stole second. Baty and Davis walked to load the bases and Hayes was hit by a pitch to score Byrd. Valentine's sacrifice fly scored Baty to make it 7-0.
The Lady Bobcats added four more runs in the third.
Brittany Hagwood led off with a walk and Watts – who ended Friday's 8-6, 8-inning JCJC win in game two with a walk-off home run – drilled a two-run home run to center. Frost then reached on an error and Byrd reached on a fielder's choice. Baty then singled and Byrd scored on an error. Tylesha Davis walked, Hayes singled to load the bases and Juliana Rouse walked to force Baty home.
Byrd singled twice and doubled, while Watts homered and singled for the Lady Bobcats. Baty and Hayes each had two singles, while Frost doubled and Valentine singled.
Megan Foes, Abby Jaques and Kodee Mital each singled for ICC.
Foes was the starter and loser. She allowed seven runs (six earned) on six hits and walked two in 1 1/3 innings. Jena Reddig pitched 2 2/3 innings, allowed four runs (two earned), five hits, walked four and struck out one.
The Lady Bobcats, 6-3, play at Baton Rouge Community College (Louisiana) in a 3 p.m. doubleheader on Wednesday.
Illinois Central, 3-7, will not play again until March 17 vs. Heartland College (Illinois).
