ELLISVILLE –
Brittany Baty homered for the second straight game as No. 7 Jones County Junior College blanked Jefferson Davis Community College (Alabama) 10-0 in game two of a doubleheader here Tuesday afternoon at Community Bank Park.
Baty belted a solo home run in game one as JCJC won 8-0 in six innings.
Amanda Holliday had a no-hitter until the top of the fifth inning when she allowed a leadoff single.
Lauren Welch came on and pitched hitless relief.
Holliday, 1-1, gave up a single to Kacey Sheridan to start the fifth inning and that was it. The Watson, Louisiana, freshman lefthander recorded six strikeouts in 4 1/3 innings. Welch, a sophomore from South Jones, threw three pitches and got the final two outs.
The Lady Bobcats took a 2-0 lead in the first when
Kelly Byrd reached on a two-out error and Baty crushed a two-run home run to left.
JCJC made it 5-0 in the second inning.
Tylesha Davis reached on an error and
Brittany Hagwood followed with a bunt single.
Cori McCrary delivered an RBI single and
Jessie Bumpous drilled a run-scoring double to the gap in left-center. Baty would reach on an error, which allowed Bumpous to score.
The Lady Bobcats sent 11 batters to the plate and scored five runs in the fourth.
Bumpous walked and was replaced by pinch-runner
Jay Harris. Baty was hit by a pitch and replaced by pinch-runner
Shelby Nelson.
Autumn Frost delivered an RBI single to left and was replaced by pinch-runner
Skyler McLain.

Ashley Valentine delivered a two-run single to center to score Nelson and McLain and make it 8-0. Holliday followed with an RBI single to right. Davis doubled and Hagwood reached on a fielder's choice to load the bases. Pinch-hitter
Juliana Rouse then walked to force Holliday home with the final run.
Frost doubled twice and singled, while McCrary and Hagwood each had two singles. Baty homered, while Bumpous and Davis each doubled. Valentine and Holliday added singles.
Baty and Valentine each had two RBIs.
Hannah Brake went the distance and took the loss. She allowed 10 runs (six earned), 12 hits, walked one and struck out two.
The Lady Bobcats, 4-1, will host the Gwen Magee Invitational Tournament on Friday. The original schedule for that event has changed and has not been finalized. JCJC is expected to face No. 8 Illinois Central on that day. On Saturday, JCJC will host Illinois Central in two games beginning at noon.
Jeff Davis plays in a tournament in Gulf Shores, Alabama, on Friday and Saturday.
