ELLISVILLE – The Jones County Junior College Bobcats are headed to the MACJC Tournament semifinals.
The Bobcats scored the game's final four goals and defeated Northwest 5-2 here Tuesday evening at Bobcat Soccer Field in an opening round playoff contest.
JCJC is now 8-7 on the season and will battle North Division champion Hinds at 4 p.m. on Saturday in the semifinals at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College. MGCCC faces Southwest in the other men's semifinal match at 6 p.m.
The 10
th-rated Lady Bobcats will face Pearl River at 1 p.m. on Saturday in a semifinal game. MGCCC plays Holmes at 11 a.m. in the other women's semifinal contest.
The women's championship is set for 3 p.m. on Sunday, followed by the men's title game at 5:30 p.m.

Northwest scored the game's first goal when Christian Clements rifled a shot in from 25 yards away at 15:51.
The Bobcats tied it at 18:38 when
Donaldo Martinez (West Jones) scored on a lengthy shot to the upper right part of the goal on a crossing attempt.
The Rangers went up 2-1 at 38:22 when Peyton McKnatt scored on a shot that bounced off the corner post. Will Jones was credited with the assist.
The Bobcats quickly tied it at 2-2 at 40:49 when
Joseph Todd (Belfast, Northern Ireland) took the ball away from a Ranger and knocked into the net.
JCJC took the lead for good just seconds into the second half when Todd scored off a
Kieran Robins (Norwich, England) assist at 45:40.
Northwest had a chance to tie it at 48:21 on a penalty kick, but JCJC goalkeeper
Darren Ross (Belfast, Northern Ireland) made the clutch save.
The Bobcats quickly went up 4-2 when Robins scored off an assist by
Alden Brunty (West Jones) at 50:43.
JCJC ended the scoring at 59:50 on another goal by Robins.
Ross played the entire game in goal for JCJC and was credited with five saves.
Brandon Carrillo was in goal for the whole game for the Rangers and had six saves.
The Bobcats took 22 shots, while the Rangers had 16. Northwest had six corner kicks and JCJC had three. Jones was called for 10 fouls, while Northwest had seven.
JCJC lost to Northwest 2-1 back on Aug. 30.
The Rangers end the season at 6-7-1.
