JACKSON – Helping the No. 7 Bobcats to a 2-0 start with two shutouts, goalkeeper Logan Correro and midfielder Kinson Smith have swept the MACCC Men's Soccer Player of the Week honors for Week 1.

Jones defeated Southern Union State, 3-0, and St. Louis, 6-0, to open the year.

Smith, a product of Northwest Rankin, had three goals in the two matches, already tying his three goals scored all of his freshman season. Three of his four shots-on-goal found the back of the net.

Correro, out of Lewisburg, stopped all four shots he faced in 153:17 between the posts.

Jones is off to a 4-0 start and will play in Pensacola, Fla, Sept. 3 against fifth-ranked Northeast (Neb.).
