JCJC's Holifield honored again as MACJC Player of the Week

ELLISVILLE – Lauren Holifield has done it again.
For the third time this season, Holifield has been named the MACJC Player of the Week.
Holifield had another phenomenal week for the MACJC South Division champion and No. 2 ranked Lady Bobcats last week.
The sophomore shortstop from New Hope was 9-for-14 with five home runs, nine RBIs and five runs scored as JCJC went 4-0 and upped its record to 39-2.
In a 12-6 win over Baton Rouge Community College (Louisiana), she was 2-for-3 with a home run and three RBIs. In a 9-1 win over BRCC, she was 2-for-4 with an RBI. In a 6-0 MACJC playoff victory over Holmes Community College, Holifield was 2-for-4 with two home runs and in a 10-0 playoff win over Holmes, she was 3-for-3 with two home runs and three RBIs.
Holifield currently owns a .507 batting average with 26 home runs and 76 RBIs. She leads NJCAA Division II in home runs and is sixth in RBIs. She leads the nation with a 1.196 slugging percentage.
Holifield returns to action this weekend at Community Bank Park when the Lady Bobcats host the MACJC State Tournament.
The tournament begins on Friday when Pearl River meets No. 11 East Central at 4 p.m. and JCJC faces No. 10 Mississippi Gulf Coast at 6 p.m.
The double-elimination event concludes on Sunday.
