No. 3 Lady Bobcats pile up 17 hits, Hayes shines in circle in win over Co-Lin

WESSON – Third-ranked Jones County Junior College picked up 17 hits and Rachel Hayes allowed only six hits as the Lady Bobcats whipped Copiah-Lincoln 10-2 in five innings here Wednesday afternoon in game one of a doubleheader.
JCJC took a 1-0 lead in the first inning when Kalyn Watts singled and later scored on Lauren Holifield's single.
The Lady Bobcats went up 4-0 in the third.
Watts singled and one out later, Tori Dew blasted her 10th home run of the season. Holifield singled, Brittany Seale walked and Kimberly Nilsson's single scored Holifield.
JCJC put the game away with a six-run fourth.
Savannah Lyon led off with a double and Shelby Nelson singled. Lyon came home on an error and Dew followed with a single to score Nelson. Holifield singled and Seale reached on a fielder's choice.
Nilsson, Rebecca Monceaux, Hailee Kolwyck and Lyon then followed with consecutive, run-scoring singles.
Co-Lin got a run in the bottom of the fourth when Payton Sheffield doubled, Breanna McKenzie singled and Kaitlyn Taylor's sacrifice fly to left scored Sheffield.
The Lady Wolves added a run in the fifth on consecutive singles by Mattie Avants, Savannah Johnston and Sheffield.
Hayes, 6-1, allowed two earned runs, six hits, walked one and struck out two.
Holifield had three singles, while Dew homered and singled. Lyon doubled and singled, while Watts, Nilsson, Monceaux and Kolwyck had two singles each. Nelson and Juliana Rouse added singles.
Sheffield doubled and singled for Co-Lin, while Johnston, Jessica Crum, McKenzie and Avants added singles.
Kamry Creel started, went 3 1/3 innings and took the loss. She allowed six runs, 10 hits and walked one. Rheagn Welch pitched 1/3 of an inning and Lauren Brasier tossed 1 1/3 innings.
JCJC improves to 27-2 overall and 17-2 in the MACJC South Division. Co-Lin falls to 13-14 and 7-12.
