Richey gains 14th victory as No. 2 Lady Bobcats defeat Meridian, 9-0

ELLISVILLE – Teri Richey posted her 14th win of the season and Hailee Kolwyck hit her second home run of the day as No. 2 Jones County beat Meridian Community College 9-0 in game two of a doubleheader here Wednesday afternoon at Community Bank Park.
The MACJC South Division champion Lady Bobcats are now 34-2 overall and 24-2 in league play. They will host Southwest Mississippi in a 4 p.m. doubleheader on Friday for "Sophomore Day." JCJC is scheduled to travel to East Mississippi for a 1 p.m. doubleheader on Saturday before closing the regular season Tuesday at Baton Rouge Community College (Louisiana) on Tuesday.
JCJC will host the North No. 4 team in a best-of-three opening round MACJC playoff series on April 24-25.
Meridian falls to 11-27 overall and 8-18 in league play. They travel to Mississippi Gulf Coast on Friday.
The game was scoreless until JCJC broke it open with a seven-run, third inning.
Jay Harris walked, Kalyn Watts singled and Kimberly Nilsson reached on an error to load the bases. Tori Dew followed with a two-run single and Lauren Holifield had an RBI single.
Brittany Seale singled Dew home and Holifield scored on an error to make it 5-0. Rebecca Monceaux's groundout scored courtesy runner Shelby Nelson and Kolwyck then followed with a solo home run.
The Lady Bobcats made it 9-0 in the fourth.
Harris singled and scored on Nilsson's double. Holifield's double scored Nilsson.
Richey, 14-1, went five innings, allowed four hits, walked none and struck out one.
Holifield and Seale each doubled and singled, while Kolwyck homered for JCJC. Nilsson had a double, while Watts, Dew and Harris added singles.
Taylor Blevins, Shelby Peavey, Megan McCullough and Cassi Dew singled for the Lady Eagles.
Angel Thornton pitched four innings and took the loss. She allowed nine runs (five earned), nine hits, walked two and struck out none.
