POPLARVILLE – 
Rachel Hayes tossed a 3-hitter to lead No. 3 Jones County Junior College to a 4-0 victory over Pearl River in game one of a doubleheader Saturday afternoon here at Lady Wildcat Stadium.
Hayes struck out seven and walked one as she upped her record to 8-1.
The game was scoreless going into the top of the fourth.
Kimberly Nilsson led off with a double and was replaced by pinch-runner 
Jay Harris. Harris was sacrificed to third by 
Rebecca Monceaux and 
Hailee Kolwyck followed with an RBI single.
Savannah Lyon was then hit by a pitch and both runners advanced on a passed ball. 
Kalyn Watts then reached on a bunt, which scored Kolwyck.
The Lady Bobcats added two insurance runs in the seventh.
Nilsson led off with a home run to make it 3-0. Skylar McLain followed with a single and was sacrificed to second by Kolwyck. Lyon then delivered an RBI single.
Nilsson homered and singled for the Lady Bobcats, while Kolwyck and 
Tori Dew each singled twice. Watts, Monceaux, McLain and Lyon added singles.
Rachel Hickman went the distance and took the loss for the Lady Wildcats. She scattered 10 hits, walked four and struck out three.
Breanna Herndon, Mary Grace Key and Branda Northrop each singled for PRCC.
JCJC is now 31-2 overall and 21-2 in the MACJC South Division.
Pearl River falls to 22-16 overall and 12-11 in league play.
