No. 1 JCJC takes game two over Hinds, 10-1

ELLISVILLE – It was more of the same for the top-ranked Jones County Junior College Lady Bobcats vs. Hinds here in game two Monday at Community Bank Park.
The Lady Bobcats made quick work of the Eagles, posting a 10-1, five-inning decision.
Lauren Holifield had two home runs and six RBIs on the day. She now leads NJCAA Division II with 13 home runs and 41 RBIs.
JCJC is now 16-0 overall and 6-0 in the MACJC South Division. They will not play again until they host Pearl River at 4/6 p.m. on March 18. Both games will air on www.jcjc.tv.
Hinds drops to 7-11 overall, 1-7 in division play. The Lady Eagles visit Itawamba on March 16.
Holifield set the tone quickly again with another first inning home run. This time it was a three-run shot after Kalyn Watts had walked and Tori Dew had singled.
Brittany Seale followed Holifield's blast with another home run to make it 4-0.
Hinds scored in the third when Molli Douglas singled, courtesy runner Tory Laird took second on a wild pitch and scored on Alexis Patterson's single.
JCJC added four more runs in the third.
Dew led off with a double and Holifield doubled her home. Seale followed with a single and Kayleigh Williams then delivered a two-run single. Tylesha Davis drove in pinch-runner Shelby Nelson with a sacrifice fly to right to make it 8-1.
In the fourth inning, Rebecca Monceaux led off with a single and Dew mashed a two-run home run to give JCJC a 9-run cushion.
Teri Richey went the distance for JCJC in the circle and improved to 7-0 with the win. She gave up one earned run, four hits, walked none and struck out five.
Dew homered, doubled and singled, while Holifield homered and doubled. Seale homered and singled, while Watts, Monceaux, Williams and Jay Harris had singles.
Patterson, Alexis Kinard, Bree Glenn and Douglas had singles for Hinds.
Bridgett Goss was the starter and loser. She pitched three innings, allowed eight runs (seven earned) and walked one. Meagan Duchesne pitched an inning and allowed two earned runs, two hits, walked one and struck out one.
