ELLISVILLE – Top-ranked Jones County Junior College hammered Copiah-Lincoln 15-0 in five innings here Friday afternoon in game one of a doubleheader
JCJC improves to 13-0 overall, 3-0 in the MACJC South Division. Co-Lin falls to 8-5 and 2-3.
JCJC scored six runs in the second inning after the first two batters retired and cruised to the win after that.
Tylesha Davis slugged a two-run home run during the six-run second inning.
Winning pitcher
Kayleigh Williams had a solo home run in the third inning as Jones took a 9-0 lead.
JCJC's six-run fourth inning was capped by a three-run home run by
Lauren Holifield.
Holifield and Davis each homered and doubled with Holifield driving in four runs.
Tori Dew ripped two doubles and Williams homered.
Savannah Lyon added two singles, while
Kalyn Watts,
Rachel Hayes, Skylar McLain,
Hailee Kolwyck,
Brittany Seale,
Shelby Nelson and
Juliana Rouse added singles.
Williams, 5-0, went the first four innings and got the win. She allowed three hits and one walk.
Lauren Welch pitched the final inning, gave up no hits and recorded a strikeout.
Savannah Johnson, Lauren Brasier and Kaitlyn Taylor singled for the Wolfpack.
Rheagn Welch started, went 1 2/3 innings and took the loss. Payton Sheffield and Taylor also pitched.
