MERIDIAN – The No. 1 rated Jones County Junior College Lady Bobcats beat Meridian Community College 5-1 here Saturday afternoon at C.D. Smith Field in game one of a doublehader.
JCJC took a 1-0 lead in the first when
Rebecca Monceaux walked,
Tori Dew doubled and Monceaux scored on a passed ball.
The Lady Bobcats went up 4-0 in the second.
Brittany Seale walked and
Tylesha Davis followed with a single.

Savannah Lyon doubled to score Davis and
Kalyn Watts' single scored Lyon.
The Lady Eagles scored in the bottom of the second when Montana Holifield doubled, Lakan Guelker sacrificed and Paige Gipson's groundout scored Holifield.
The Lady Bobcats scored its final run in the fifth inning.
Monceaux led off with a double and went to third on Dew's fly out. Monceaux scored on
Lauren Holifield's sacrifice fly.
Teri Richey, 9-0, went the first three innings and posted the win. She allowed one run, two hits and walked one.
Rachel Hayes went the final four innings, allowed no runs, one hit, walked one and struck out four.
Watts and Davis had two singles each, while Monceaux, Dew and Lyon doubled and Seale singled.
Zoie LaVergne went the distance for the Eagles and took the loss. She gave up five earned runs, eight hits, walked two and struck out two.
Montana Holifield doubled for MCC, while Shelby Peavey and Cheyenne Barefoot singled.
