No. 1 Lady Bobcats complete sweep of PRCC with 10-1 decision

ELLISVILLE – Teri Richey gave up just one hit, while Tori Dew and Lauren Holifield each homered again as top-ranked Jones County Junior College complete a sweep of Pearl River with a 10-1, five-inning decision here Tuesday evening at Community Bank Park.
Holifield now leads the nation with15 home runs and is second in RBIs with 43.
The Lady Bobcats are now 18-0 overall and 8-0 in the MACJC South Division. JCJC travels to Mississippi Gulf Coast for a 2 p.m. doubleheader on Friday and Meridian for a 2 p.m. doubleheader on Saturday.
Pearl River, 16-10 overall and 5-5 in the division, travels to Copiah-Lincoln on Saturday.
Pearl River took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first when leadoff batter Shay Rosser reached on a two-base error, was sacrificed to third by Breanna Herndon and scored on Hannah Holloway's bunt
JCJC responded with two runs in the bottom of the first.
Kalyn Watts reached on a bunt single and Dew was hit by a pitch. With two outs, Brittany Seale tripled into the rightfield corner to give JCJC a 2-1 lead.
The Lady Bobcats broke it open with five runs in the second.
Karla Santiago reached on an error and Jay Harris followed with a bloop single. Watts then singled to score Santiago.
With two outs, Dew slugged her fifth home run of the year, a three-run shot deep over the rightfield wall. Holifield then followed with a line drive home run over the leftfield wall to give the Lady Bobcats a 7-1 lead.
JCJC scored three runs in the fourth.
Dew led off with a walk and Seale drew a one-out walk. With two outs, Tylesha Davis singled home Dew and Santiago followed with a two-run single.
Richey, 8-0, had a no-hitter until the fifth inning. She allowed one run, one hit, walked two and struck out six.
Watts had three singles for JCJC, while Harris singled twice. Dew and Holifield homered, while Seale tripled, Davis doubled and Santiago singled.
Rachel Hickman went 3 2/3 innings and took the loss. She allowed 10 runs (five earned), 10 hits and walked three. Barton pitched the final 1/3 of an inning.
Northrop had an infield single in the fifth for PRCC's only hit.
