ELLISVILLE – Top-ranked Jones County Junior College opened MACJC South Division play in impressive fashion here Friday evening at Community Bank Park.
Kayleigh Williams homered and pitched a shutout to lead JCJC to a 10-0, five-inning victory over East Central Community College in game one of a doubleheader.
Williams only gave up two hits, walked four, hit one and struck out five as she improved to 4-0.
JCJC took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning.
Kalyn Watts led off with a bunt single and
Tori Dew reached on a sharp, infield single. Watts would later score on a passed ball and
Brittany Seale singled to score Dew.
JCJC made it 3-0 in the third when Seale led off the inning with a home run.
The Lady Bobcats put the game away in the fourth when they sent 11 batters to the plate and scored seven runs. All of the runs scored after the first two batters struck out.
Rebecca Monceaux then singled,
Tori Dew walked and
Lauren Holifield singled Monceaux home. Seale then tripled into the rightfield corner to drive in two runs and make it 6-0.

Williams then followed with her second home run of the season to give Jones a 9-0 lead.
Tylesha Davis then singled and scored on a double by
Savannah Lyon.
Seale homered, tripled, singled and drove in four runs to pace the Lady Bobcats. Lyon doubled and singled, while Williams homered. Watts, Monceaux, Dew, Holifield, Nilsson and Davis added singles.
Lacey Hill went the distance and took the loss. She allowed nine runs (all earned), 12 hits, walked two and struck out two.
Summer Lavender and Karoline Holsonback singled for ECCC.
