ELLISVILLE – The Jones County Junior College Lady Bobcats whipped East Central 8-1 here Tuesday afternoon at the Howard Sports Complex Tennis Courts.
The JCJC women improved to 4-0 with the victory.
Jenna Hegwood and
Shelby Gilliland shut out Shannon St. Clair and Kristine Jenkins in No. 1 doubles, 8-0.
Claire Rounsaville and
Breanna Waller whipped Hannah Peoples and Brooke Payne in No. 2 doubles, 8-1.
Krissy Stutts and
Tymeka Hunter won No. 3 doubles by forfeit.
Gilliland outlasted Peoples in No. 2 singles, 5-7, 7-5, 10-3. Rounsaville blanked Jenkins in No. 3 singles, 6-0, 6-0. Stutts beat Patrick 6-2, 6-0 in No. 4 singles, Hunter downed Payne 6-1, 6-2 in No. 5 singles and
Caitlin Taylor won No. 6 singles by forfeit.
In No. 1 singles, ECCC's St. Clair edged Hegwood, 3-6, 6-4, 10-8.
JCJC is scheduled to play a 2 p.m. match at Meridian on Thursday and travel to Itawamba at 2 p.m. on Monday. Their final home match before spring break will be at 2 p.m. on March 5 vs. Holmes.
