ELLISVILLE – The Jones County Junior College Lady Bobcats blanked Northeast Mississippi 9-0 here on a blustery Wednesday afternoon at the Howard Sports Complex Tennis Courts.
The Lady Bobcats were impressive in all matches.
Jenna Hegwood and
Shelby Gilliland beat Kerston Jumper and Beth Ann Frazier 8-1 in No. 1 doubles.
Claire Rounsaville and
Breanna Waller beat Alma Marzano and Erica Whitten 8-2 in No. 2 doubles and
Krissy Stutts and
Tymeka Hunter whipped Hannah Billingsley and Brittney Rencher in No. 3 doubles, 8-1.
In No. 1 singles, Hegwood defeated Jumper, 6-0, 6-2, while Gilliland beat Frazier 6-1, 6-0 in No. 2 singles. Rounsaville blanked Marzano 6-0, 6-0 in No. 3 singles and Stutts stopped Whitten in No. 4 singles, 6-2, 6-2. Hunter downed Billingsley 6-2, 6-2 in No. 5 singles and
Caitlin Taylor defeated Rencher 6-1, 6-0 in No. 6 singles.
The Lady Bobcats are now 2-0 on the year. They will host Hinds at 2 p.m. on Thursday and entertain East Central at 2 p.m. on Tuesday.
Northeast travels to Mississippi Gulf Coast on Thursday. Both Tiger teams are 1-1 on the season.
