PENSACOLA, Florida – Lauren Holifeld homered twice to lead No. 1 Jones County Junior College to an 11-2, five-inning win over Pensacola State College here Saturday afternoon at Pensacola State Field.
For the day, Holifield ripped three home runs and had seven RBIs. She now has five home runs on the young season. It was her second, two-home run game of the year.
JCJC, 4-0, goes to Brewton, Alabama, for a noon doubleheader on Sunday.
The Pirates scored a run in the first, but JCJC exploded for eight runs in the second.
Holifield led off with a double and 
Tylesha Davis singled. 
Kayleigh Williams singled to score Holifield. 
Kalyn Watts then had a two-run double to score Davis and Williams and make it 3-1. 
Savannah Lyon, who had walked, would later score on a passed ball. 
Rebecca Monceaux reached on an error, which allowed Watts to score.
Holifield then followed with a three-run home run to left to give the Lady Bobcats an 8-1 lead.
Pensacola made it 8-2 in the third, but JCJC responded with three runs in the top of the fourth.
With the bases empty and two outs, Holifield hit her second home run of the game. 
Brittany Seale then walked and Davis followed with a two-run homer.
Williams, 1-0, went the distance and got the win. She allowed two runs, five hits, walked two and struck out six.
Offensively, Holifield homered twice, doubled and drove in four runs. Davis homered, singled and had two RBIs, while Watts doubled and drove in two runs. Dew and Williams added singles.
Bevia Robinson tripled and singled for the Pirates, while Quierra Bradford singled twice. Jessica Briggs added a single.
Briggs started and took the loss. She went 1 2/3 innings, allowed eight runs (three hits), six hits and walked one. Allison Pettigrew went the final 3 1/3 innings, allowed three earned runs, two hits, walked five and struck out three.
Pensacola State, 6-5, hosts Lamar State (Texas) at 3 p.m. on Wednesday.
The Lady Bobcats will host the Gwen Magee Invitational Friday/Saturday at Community Bank Park.
Friday's games will feature Copiah-Lincoln vs. No. 5 Lincoln Land Community College (Illinois) at 1 p.m., followed by Co-Lin vs. No. 3 Illinois Central College at 3 p.m. The Lady Bobcats face Lincoln Land at 5 p.m. and Illinois Central at 7 p.m.
Saturday's schedule finds JCJC vs. Lincoln Land at 10 a.m. and vs. Illinois Central at noon. Lincoln Land meets Bossier Parish Community College (Louisiana) at 2 p.m., followed by BPCC vs. Illinois Central at 4 p.m.
