MERIDIAN – The Jones County Junior College Lady Bobcats pummeled Meridian Community College 11-1 here Tuesday night in MACJC South Division play.
Kelly Stubbington had four goals and
Kelsey Hannaford had three assists and one goal, as JCJC upped its record to 9-1 overall, 6-0 in division play. Meridian falls to 6-5-1 and 3-3.
Jones got on the scoreboard quickly as
Marcie Napier assisted
Dallas McKinnon at 2:16. JCJC added a goal at 16:06 when Stubbington scored off an assist by
Traci Monroe. Hannaford then assisted Stubbington at 37:11 and Hannaford scored an unassisted goal at 41:28 as JCJC took a 4-0 halftime lead.
Stubbington then scored an unassisted goal at 46:31 to make it 5-0. Stubbington scored off a McKinnon assist at 57:04 and McKinnon assisted Monroe at 58:54 to make it 7-0.
Emily Brewer scored for Meridian on a penalty kick at 64:48.
JCJC's
Abby Taylor scored at 72:10 off an assist by
Mattie Mills.
Abby Wilson then scored off a Hannaford assist at 76:30.
Abbey Graham scored off an assist by Hannaford at 85:08 to make it 10-1. The game's final goal came when Monroe scored at 89:12 off an assist by
Ali Sullivan.
Holly Pike was in goal for the first 60 minutes for JCJC and had a save.
Mackenzie Shows played the final 30 minutes.
The Lady Bobcats will entertain Southwest at 5 p.m. Friday at Bobcat Soccer Field. Meridian hosts Pearl River on Friday.
