ELLISVILLE – The No. 23 Jones College volleyball team continued conference play with a dominant straight-set victory over Coahoma Monday evening in the first-ever meeting on the court.
The Bobcats controlled the match from the opening serve, winning 25-8, 25-6 and 25-9 to improve to 13-5 overall and 3-1 in conference play.
Jones spread opportunities throughout the lineup during the sweep, with 12 Bobcats appearing in at least one set. Jensi Doise (Baton Rogue, La.; Parkview Baptist) led the offensive attack with 14 kills, while Jones also produced 15 service aces.
SET ONE
Jones established control early in the opening set.
After building a 5-2 advantage, an Olivia Guth (Poplarville; Lakeshore) ace helped extend the lead to 7-2. Doise followed with a pair of early kills, while Addyson Sides (Central, La.; Central Private) and Amaya Wilson (Olive Branch; Northpoint Christian) combined for a block as the Bobcats pushed the margin to 10-2.
Jones continued creating separation from there. Claire Wicker (Oxford) added a pair of aces during the latter stages of the set, and the Bobcats closed out a convincing 25-8 victory.
SET TWO
The Bobcats carried that momentum directly into the second.
Jones raced out to a 7-1 advantage, with Doise contributing multiple kills paired with an Allynah Lazard (Slidell, La.; Pope John Paul II) ace.
Doise remained involved offensively throughout the frame, while Myah Favre (Pass Christian; OLA) contributed multiple kills and an ace. Jones eventually finished off the set 25-6 to move within one set of the sweep.
SET THREE
Coahoma stayed closer in the early stages of the third, with the set tied at 3-3 before Jones began to pull away.
Lucy McHugh (Gulfport) provided a spark from the service line with a pair of aces, while Doise and Favre helped the Bobcats build a 12-5 advantage.
Jones continued to stretch the lead, moving ahead 17-6 before eventually completing the sweep with a 25-9 victory.
LEADING THE WAY
Doise turned in the standout offensive performance of the night, finishing with 14 kills without an attack error on 16 attempts, good for an .875 hitting percentage. She also added two service aces.
Selah Sandridge (Madison; MRA) recorded four kills on five attacks without an error, hitting .800 in two sets.
Sides added four kills on five attempts for a .600 hitting percentage and contributed a block assist.
Favre finished with four kills while hitting .429 and added three service aces and four digs.
Jailly Vance (New Orleans, La.; Isidore Newman) recorded three kills on six swings without an error, finishing with a .500 hitting percentage.
Wicker handed out a team-high 15 assists while adding three aces and four digs.
Keira Hariel (Madison; MRA) added 14 assists, two service aces and a kill.
Guth anchored the back row with a team-high 10 digs while also contributing four assists and two aces.
McHugh added three kills and two service aces in two sets.

The Bobcats return to action Tuesday, Sept. 29 against Wallace State-Selma. First serve from Selma is set for 5 p.m.
