ELLISVILLE – No. 13 Jones College rolled to a 7-2 decision over No. 22 East Central here Tuesday afternoon at the Bobcat Tennis Complex.
Jones took all three doubles matches.
Tom Garrett (Australia) and
Juan Francisco Pereyra (Argentina) beat Jeronimo Arango and Luis Hernandez in No. 1 doubles, 8-4.
Felipe Morales (Ecuador) and
Reese Touchet (Madison Central) downed Benjamin Kadid and Braiden Estes in No. 2 doubles, 8-4.
Ridge Jones (Northeast Jones) and
Ryan Roth (Resurrection Catholic) whipped Thomas Sumrall and Seth Gipson in No. 3 doubles, 8-2.
Pereyra beat Kadid in No. 2 singles, 6-2, 6-3 and Jones blanked Estes in No. 4 singles, 6-0, 6-0.
Luke Westmoreland (Grenada) shut out Cory Smith in No. 5 singles, 6-0, 6-0 and Roth defeated Sumrall in No. 6 singles, 6-1, 6-2. Garrett fell to Arango in No. 1 singles, 4-6, 4-6 and Morales lost a close one to Hernandez in No. 3 singles, 6-2, 4-6, 8-10.
In extra matches,
Crews Cockrell (West Jones) beat Gipson, 8-4.
Nicholas Marengo (Forrest County AHS) defeated Noah Agent, 6-2 and Chris Randle, 6-0.
The Bobcats go to No. 25 Hinds for a 2 p.m. match on Thursday.
