FULTON – No. 7 Jones College banked No. 24 Itawamba 9-0 here Tuesday at the Johnson-Partlow Tennis Courts.
The Bobcats are now 13-0 overall and end MACCC play at 9-0.
Jones has won 92 consecutive regular season conference matches and has finished undefeated in league play in seven straight years. The Bobcats have not lost a conference match since Feb. 14, 2019.
The Bobcats are scheduled to end the regular season with a 1 p.m. Saturday match in Meridian vs. No. 12 Wallace State-Hanceville.
Jones will host the women's Region 23 Tournament April 9-11 at the Bobcat Tennis Complex.
The Bobcats got off to a strong start in doubles vs. the Indians.
Heidi Clayton (New Albany) and
Camila Piquín blanked Agostina Pizarro and Melina Vazquez in No. 1 doubles, 8-0.
Katlin Porcello (Oak Grove) and
Josie Tullos (Newton County) beat Breanne Sparks and Ava Logan in No. 2 doubles, 8-3.
Caroline Kilpatrick (Brookhaven) and
Emily Rogers (West Jones) defeated Ava Moore and Addison Joshlin in No. 3 doubles, 8-4.
Piquín defeated Pizarro in No. 1 singles, 6-4, 6-2 and Clayton whipped Vazquez in No. 2 singles, 6-1, 6-0.
Theresa Emelio (Australia) shut out Sparks in No. 3 singles, 6-0, 6-0 and Porcello downed Joshlin in No. 4 singles, 6-1, 6-0. Kilpatrick defeated Logan in No. 5 singles, 6-4, 6-0 and Rogers beat Moore in No. 6 singles, 6-1, 6-1.
