ELLISVILLE – No. 7 Jones College improved to 12-0 with a 6-3 win over No. 13 Coastal Alabama-South here Monday at the Bobcat Tennis Complex.
Jones will end MACCC regular season play with a 2 p.m. match on Tuesday at No. 24 Itawamba. They are scheduled to close the regular season with a 1 p.m. match on Saturday in Meridian vs. No. 12 Wallace State-Hanceville.
The Coyotes fall to 16-8.
Jones won two of the doubles' matches.
Heidi Clayton (New Albany) and
Theresa Emelio (Australia) beat Jescimel Mabiongo and Neda Kocyte in No. 1 doubles, 8-3.
Maria Martinez (Argentina) and
Camila Piquín(Argentina) defeated Hannah Stenger and Nadja Walter in No. 2 doubles, 8-2.
Katlin Porcello (Oak Grove) and
Josie Tullos (Newton County) lost a close one to Amber Langendries and Samantha Parris in No. 3 doubles, 8-9 (5-7).
Piquín edged Walter in No. 1 singles, 6-3, 3-6, 10-8 and Clayton whipped Mabiongo in No. 2 singles, 6-2, 6-0. Martinez downed Teah Johnson in No. 3 singles, 6-2, 6-1 and Emelio defeated Langendries in No. 4 singles, 7-5, 6-0. Porcello fell to Stenger in No. 5 singles, 6-2, 4-6, 7-10 and Tullos lost to Kocyte in No. 6 singles, 6-7, 4-6.
