MERIDIAN – Ninth-rated Jones College cruised to a 9-0 victory over No. 23 Meridian here Friday.
In No. 1 doubles,
Heidi Clayton (New Albany) and
Theresa Emelio (Australia) beat Aleah McMullan and Reine Akombo, 8-1.
Camila Piquín (Argentina) and
Maria Martinez (Argentina) defeated Elizabeth Shirley and Daisi Kukuljan in No. 2 doubles, 8-1.
Katlin Porcello (Oak Grove) and
Josie Tullos (Newton County) blanked Piper Collins and Michaela Mayerhoff in No. 3 doubles, 8-0.
Piquín outlasted Akombo in No. 1 singles, 6-0, 6-7, 10-8 and Clayton beat Kukuljan in No. 2 singles, 6-0, 6-3. Martinez whipped McMullan in No. 3 singles, 6-1, 6-1 and Emelio downed Shirley in No. 4 singles, 6-0, 6-2. Porcello shut out Scarlett Walker in No. 5 singles, 6-0, 6-0 and Tullos downed Collins in No. 6 singles, 6-2, 6-0.
The Bobcats are now 6-0 overall and 3-0 in the MACCC.
Jones will host East Central in a 2 p.m. match on Tuesday.
