ELLISVILLE – In a game that featured 18 ties and lead changes, it was the host Bobcats who were able to snap a two-game home skid and grind out a 78-69 victory Monday night at A.B. Howard Gymnasium over Copiah-Lincoln.
Jones improved to 20-7 overall, 9-2 in MACCC play with the win. It's the first time this century the Bobcats have won 20-plus games in three consecutive seasons.
Co-Lin dropped to 12-10, 5-4 in the MACCC.
Jones built its lead to as many as nine in the opening half but Co-Lin would trim that to just one, 33-32, at the break.
Dylan Rowe scored seven in-a-row as the Bobcats opened the second half with a 7-1 spurt to quickly push the lead back out to 40-33.
But Co-Lin scored the next eight to retake the lead, 41-40, on a Tristian Lucas jumper.
Keron Jackson's jumper at the 12:45-mark put the Cats back on top, 46-45, and he'd score seven straight to give Jones the lead for good.
Co-Lin got no closer than five the final six minutes.
Rowe scored 15 of his game-high 23 in the second half and
Jay Tyler and Jackson had 10 apiece.
Bob Dickson had 16 points and seven rebounds and Tyler added eight assists.
Both teams shot it at a high level at 53 percent.
Jones heads to Pearl River on Thursday, Feb. 19 and returns home Monday, Feb. 23 to host Meridian in the regular season finale.
