Dominique Sullivan promoted to offensive coordinator

ELLISVILLE – Jones College head football coach Lytrel Pollard has announced the promotion of Dominique Sullivan to offensive coordinator.

Sullivan was the Bobcat quarterbacks coach in 2025.

"One thing I like about him is that our quarterbacks trust him," Pollard said. "When the quarterback speaks highly of him and how he makes decisions, that makes him better as a player. It's all about the team and you know if the players are comfortable with him that makes me comfortable."

Sullivan was a standout at Taylorsville High School and went on to play four years as a wide receiver at Southern Miss. He had 77 catches for 1,190 yards and eight touchdowns as a Golden Eagle and helped the team to a 2011 Conference USA championship win over Houston and a win over Nevada in the Sheraton Hawaii Bowl.

After graduating from Southern Miss in 2014, Sullivan coached at Long Beach High School for a year before spending 10 years as an assistant coach at Southwest Mississippi. He was wide receivers coach for eight seasons before being named offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach.

Southwest averaged 26.2 points-per-game his first year as OC, up from 18.6 ppg prior to his promotion. The Bears were third in the MACCC in passing yards in both 2023 and 2024.

Pollard was familiar with Sullivan both as a player and a coach before hiring him last season.

"I've been watching Dom the last five or six years over at Southwest because I had to go against him," he said. "One thing that I like about him was that his kids played fast. They did not do a lot of things schematically different than everybody else, but it was the confidence his kids played with that impressed me. I've been knowing him since my days at Southern Miss as a coach and he was there playing receiver. I remember him coming out of high school.

"I know if I'm not around he could do everything that he possibly can that can help make us better offensively."

Pollard said the Bobcats would begin spring practice on March 31 so Sullivan will have on opportunity to set the foundation for the offense at that time.

"We will have more kids out so we will be able to do more," Pollard said of not only the offense, but the entire team. "We will get a chance to put it together, get some evaluation on them and take the summer to improve on what we need to do better."

Jones is scheduled to open the 2026 season with a home game on Aug. 27 vs. Holmes.
