No. 17 Bobcats best East Central in overtime, 103-98

ELLISVILLE – For a second straight home game, Jones College had to rally from a double digit deficit to come out on top.

No. 17 Jones trailed East Central by 10 in the opening half but lived at the free throw line the final 25 minutes to grind out a 103-98 overtime win over the Warriors Tuesday night.

The Bobcats won their 16th straight MACCC game, improving to 14-5 overall, 3-0 in the league. ECCC dropped to 5-12, 1-2 MACCC.

An 11-2 run midway through the first half gave EC its largest lead at 29-19, capped by a Jaylen Torgusson fastbreak dunk.

EC led 45-41 at the break.

Jones made it a point to get to the charity stripe in the second half, converting 22-of-29 in the second and then going 9-for-10 in overtime.

Keron Jackson's dunk at the 14:27-mark gave Jones its first lead since early in the first, 58-56.

Back-and-forth down the stretch, Jones led by as many as eight but the Warriors rallied to tie it at 90 and force extra time.

Jones forced an EC turnover with seven seconds left and had a shot to win it in regulation with a sideline play with four seconds left.

In the extra period, nine of Jones' 13 points came from the free throw line and they'd hold EC to 3-of-8 shooting.

Dylan Rowe had a game-high 27 points and seven rebounds, going 17-for-22 from the line. Jackson added 20 points and nine boards, Jay Tyler 23 points and eight assists and Braylon Barnes 19 points and 13 boards for his first career double-double.

Jones has a quick turnaround, going to Mississippi Delta Thursday for a 7:30 tip.
