PERKINSTON – Gulf Coast held Jones to a seven-point second quarter and built a double digit lead they would ride to a 63-49 win Thursday night at Dantzler Arena.
MGCCC improved to 8-3, 2-0 MACCC and dropped Jones to 12-3 overall, 1-1 in conference play.
The Bulldogs have won four straight in the series after losing 22 straight to Jones from 2013-23.
Jakera Ducksworth scored the game's first basket and Jones led 8-4 early after
Teeale Wells' layup at the 7:03-mark.
MGCCC scored the next 10 points to take its first lead, 14-8, and would never look back.
Jones got no closer than three the final 30 minutes as the Bulldogs built an 11-point halftime lead.
Both teams shot 36 percent for the night, with the biggest difference in the game being Jones' 24 turnovers against four assists.
Ducksworth had a team-high 15 points, Wells had 11 and former Bulldog
Lamarah Cleaves 11 points and 10 rebounds for her second straight and fourth double-double of the year.
Katelyn Brinkley had 20 points and 14 rebounds for MGCCC. Taelar Felton added 17 off the bench.
Jones looks to regroup on Tuesday, Jan. 20 when they welcome East Central to A.B. Howard Gymnasium for a 5:30 tip.
