Braylon Barnes dropped a career-high 29 points and
Jay Tyler added 26 as No. 20 Jones College rallied from a double-digit deficit to defeat Hinds, 100-94, in the MACCC-opener Monday night at A.B. Howard Gymnasium.
Jones improved to 12-5 overall, 1-0 MACCC. Hinds fell to 10-7, 0-1.
The Bobcats are 37-3 their last 40 home games and have won four straight over the Bulldogs.
A 12-3 Hinds run gave them their largest lead of the game, 31-21, with 8:34 left in the opening half before the Bobcats would claw back to a 51-47 deficit at the half.
Barnes' two free throws briefly put Jones in front, 54-53, early in the second half but Hinds pushed back ahead by nine minutes later.
Jones retook the lead, 85-84, on Tyler's three-pointer with 5:20 to play and Jones would never trail the rest of the way. Tyler scored seven of the last nine points for JC.
Behind 29 from Barnes and 26 from Tyler,
Dylan Rowe added 18 points and seven boards,
Bob Dickson had 14 points and eight rebounds and
Keron Jackson had six points and five rebounds off the bench.
Jones shot 52 percent for the night and was 31-for-40 from the charity stripe. Hinds shot 45 percent.
The Bulldogs were paced by 29 from Terrance Clark. Three others scored in double figures.
