PERKINSTON – It's been a dominating run for Jones College against rival Gulf Coast.
The 20th-ranked Bobcats won 81-75 Thursday night at Dantzler Arena for their 10th consecutive victory in Perkinston.
And they led for all but four minutes.
Jones, 13-5, 2-0 MACCC, has won 23 of the last 26 overall against MGCCC.
Bob Dickson's dunk to open the scoring set the tone for the Bobcats, who were looking to avenge a 116-114 double overtime non-conference loss to the Bulldogs in Ellisville on Dec. 8.
Buckets by
Jay Tyler and
Dylan Rowe gave Jones an early 8-4 lead and it quickly jumped out to a game-high 22-10 with 9:44 left in the opening half.
But MGCCC would rally to tie the game 33-33 at half, using baskets from nine different Bulldogs.
Maddox Noblitt's three-pointer to open the second half gave MGCCC its second lead of the game, 36-35, but it would be their only one the final 19 minutes.
Braylon Barnes responded with a three-pointer on the other end and Tyler hit a three to make it 41-36 Jones. Barnes had 13 of his 14 points in the second half.
Bob Dickson was a perfect 7-for-7 from the floor and finished with 16 points, 11 rebounds and four blocks. Tyler had 15 points, Rowe 15 and
Keron Jackson 17 off the bench in 26 minutes.
Jones held the MACCC's second-leading scorer, Duran Parish, to 1-of-10 shooting for the half and 2-of-15 overall for the game. Averaging 23.2 points a game, he finished with nine, five of them from the free throw line. King George led MGCCC with 14 points and 15 rebounds.
Jones shot 47 percent against 39 percent for the Bulldogs.
Jones looks for a fourth straight win on Tuesday, Jan. 20 when they welcome East Central to A.B. Howard Gymnasium for a 7:30 tip.
