ELLISVILLE – Jones had its worst hitting performance of the season Monday night in a 3-1 setback to Northwest.
Northwest improved to 16-2, 7-0 MACCC and handed Jones, 10-1, 6-1, its first loss of the year.
The Rangers took the opening two sets 25-21 and 25-16 before Jones won the third set 25-21 after a match-best 14 kills and just four errors.
Jones couldn't keep up the momentum in the fourth set, tying it at 11-11 before the Rangers scored 14 of the next 21 points for the win.
Jones' 13 service errors by eight different players were its most in a four-set match this season.
Izzi Barnes and
Harmony Jackson had 14 kills each,
Mamie Fromdahl a match-high 30 assists,
Sara Akins 12 digs and
Olivia Guth 10 digs.
Jones hit .162 against .241 for Northwest.
The Bobcats go to Southwest Wednesday for a 6 p.m. first serve and host Bishop State Thursday at 5 p.m.
