ELLISVILLE – No. 4 Jones put the finishing touches on a perfect record on its home floor with a 74-61 win over Pearl River Thursday night to claim a second consecutive NJCAA Region 23 and Gulf District Championship.
Jones finished undefeated (18-0) at A.B. Howard Gymnasium for the first time in 11 years and improved to a school-record 30-3.
PRCC's season came to a close at 24-7.
The Wildcats led by a game-high seven with 6:51 to play in the opening half but Jones would close on a 9-2 run to take a 32-31 lead.
Jones would never trail again.
LJ Hackman scored five straight in the second half to push the lead out to 41-34.
A steal and a dunk by
Amillion Buggs opened a 10-point lead and it felt like the Bobcats would pull away from there.
But PRCC would score 12 of the next 16 to cut it to 52-50 with 9:00 left.
Ky Pernell hit back-to-back 3s to push it back to 58-52 and Jones would cruise to the finish line for a third straight win over the Wildcats.
Hackman finished with a team-high 20 points and five assists,
Avery Thomas II had 17 points and 14 rebounds, Ky 16 points and Buggs 10 points and four steals.

NJCAA Tournament Selection Show is Sunday, March 16 at 7 p.m. CST, and the tournament runs March 22-29 in Hutchinson, Kansas.
