No. 10 Bobcats shut out No. 23 East Central, 9-0

DECATUR – No. 10 Jones College won its fifth straight shutout here Friday afternoon at the East Central Tennis Complex.
 
The Bobcats defeated No. 23 East Central, 9-0.

Jones is now 6-0 overall and 4-0 in the MACCC.
 
In No. 1 doubles, Molly Bennett (Madison Central) and Helen Hernandez (Venezuela) beat Nil Kalkavan and Ivanna De Gregorio, 8-2, and Theresa Emelio (Australia) and Maria Martinez (Argentina) whipped Isabella Estrada and Kinsley Johnson in No. 2 doubles, 8-1. Josie Tullos (Newton County) and Ansley Tomkins (Northwest Rankin) defeated Addy Page and Noelle Howell in No. 3 doubles, 8-3.
 
Hernandez downed Kalkavan in No. 1 singles, 6-2, 6-2 and Bennett outlasted De Gregorio in No. 2 singles, 6-1, 2-6, 1-0 (10-6). Martinez defeated Estrada in No. 3 singles, 6-2, 6-2 and Emelio blanked Howell in No. 4 singles, 6-0, 6-0. Annabelle Simmons (Lamar School) downed Page in No. 5 singles, 6-1, 6-0 and Tomkins whipped Johnson in No. 6 singles, 6-1,6-0. 

The Bobcats will play at Millsaps on Sunday before hosting Hinds on March 6.
