NEW ALBANY – No. 10 Jones College defeated Northeast 9-0 here Tuesday at BNA Park.
It was the fourth straight shutout for the Bobcats who are now 5-0 overall, 3-0 in the MACCC. Jones will travel to East Central for a 2 p.m. match on Friday.
Molly Bennett (Madison Central) and
Helen Hernandez (Venezuela) blanked Annsleigh Fair and Allie Gillespie in No. 1 doubles, 8-0 and
Theresa Emelio (Australia) and
Maria Martinez (Argentina) shutout Lilly Melson and Olivia Walker in No. 2 doubles, 8-0.
Ansley Tomkins (Northwest Rankin) and
Josie Tullos (Newton County) whipped Georgia Jones and Kerstyn Hamm in No. 3 doubles, 8-1.
Hernandez shut out Hamm in No. 1 singles, 6-0, 6-0 and Bennett blanked Walker in No. 2 singles, 6-0, 6-0. Emelio beat Melson in No. 3 singles, 1-0, retired and Simmons whipped Gillespie in No. 4 singles, 6-1, 6-1. Tomkins downed Fair in No. 5 singles,6-2, 6-3 and
Hannah Hupe (Laurel Christian School) defeated Jones in No. 6 singles,6-0, 6-0.
