ELLISVILLE –
TJ Dunsford's three-run blast to straight-away center helped No. 12 Jones walk off Danville Area, 12-2, Monday afternoon at Community Bank Park.
Jones improved to 3-0 on the young season while the Jaguars dropped to 0-5.
Dunsford continued his early-season tear where he's 8-for-12 with two doubles, a homer and five RBIs after transferring in from Lurleen B. Wallace.
Cole Manuel's RBI-double in the top of the first opened the scoring. He'd finish 3-for-3 at the plate and also toss three innings of one-hit ball.
Talan Theriot's two-run single to left made it 3-0 in the third and
Bryson Jones,
Braden Smith and
Evan Rogers would all add RBIs in a six-run inning.
The Jags got two runs back in the fourth on an error and wild pitch.
Preston Scott's RBI-double made it 9-2 in the sixth.
J.T. Elias made his Bobcat debut on the mound with a scoreless seventh. He walked two, allowed a hit and struck out the side.
Smith grabbed a one-out walk in the bottom of the seventh, Rogers singled and then Dunsford homered on an 0-2 count to end the game early.
Brycen Smith got the win in three relief innings, striking out five and allowing three hits and no earned runs.
Lawson Leblanc took the loss, allowing six runs in 2.1 innings with seven walks and two hit batters.
Jones' scheduled doubleheader at Coastal Alabama-North on Tuesday, Feb. 11 has been canceled due to weather. The Bobcats play Saturday-Sunday in the Northeast Florida JUCO Invitational.
