ELLISVILLE – Jones College scored the game's first eight points and never looked back as they destroyed Reid State, 99-51.
It was a highly successful home debut for head coach
Trista Magee Whitman Monday night at A.B. Howard Gymnasium. Jones had opened the season last week with a 74-44 win at Reid State.
Jones is off to its first 3-0 start since the 2021-22 NJCAA Final Four season.
All 12 Bobcats that played reached the scoring column.
Jones led 31-10 after the first quarter, 49-15 at halftime and 74-30 after three quarters.
Jakera Ducksworth (West Jones) led five players in double figures with 16 points and
Zharia Leflore (Neshoba Central) added 15.
Khalee Harrison (Yazoo County) had 11 points and
Sanyla Smith (Tupelo) and
Anna-Patrice Patterson (Bay Springs) had 10 each.
Larissa Hubbard (Harrison Central) had eight rebounds,
Lamarah Cleaves (Tupelo) had six and Ducksworth, Harrison, Smith and Patterson added five boards each.
Teeale Wells (D'Iberville) Hubbard, Smith and
Julissa Claxton (Jackson Murrah) each had four assists.
Imani White had 16 points for the Lions and Mia White added 13.
The Bobcats shot 53 percent against 37 percent for the visiting Lions.
Jones outrebounded the Lions, 47-23, and committed 17 turnovers. The Bobcats forced 31 turnovers.
The Bobcats travel to West Memphis, Ark., for a Friday game vs. ASU Mid-South and a Saturday contest vs. National Park College. They return home on Nov. 17 for a 5 p.m. contest vs. Lawson State.
