ENTERPRISE, Ala. – It took nearly two and half hours, but No. 25 Jones won a five-set thriller at No. 24 Enterprise State Wednesday afternoon in a rematch of last year's district championship game.
Jones improved to 26-4 while ESCC fell to 24-12.
Hours later in Decatur, Mississippi, East Central handed Northwest a 3-1 loss to help Jones clinch its first-ever MACCC Championship outright.
Jones trailed the Boll Weevils 2-1 after three sets, but rallied for 25-23 and 21-19 wins in the fourth and fifth to seal a big road win against a ranked team.
Chelsea Daffin had nine kills on the night, but none bigger than her match-clinching kill for Jones. The Bobcats shook off six match points to hang around and eventually get the 21-19 win.
Jensi Doise had a season-high 15 kills against 16 for
Harmony Jackson.
Olivia Guth added a season-high 22 digs,
