SUMMIT – Jones rallied from an 11-point third quarter deficit and took the lead on a
Zharia Leflore layup with 25.9 seconds left in regulation before falling 87-75 in overtime Monday night at Southwest's Bear Gymnasium.
Southwest improved to 12-5 overall, 2-2 in the MACCC and kept Jones winless in MACCC play at 3-14 overall and 0-5 in the league.
Jones has lost 20 straight on the road.
The Bobcats scored the game's first basket but would not lead again until 5:19 left in the fourth quarter, 62-60, on
Shay Hunter's three-pointer.
Aasia Wilson's steal and ensuing assist to Leflore on a fastbreak put Jones on top 70-68.
After a rebound by
Larissa Hubbard and Bobcat timeout, Jones turned it over on Southwest's baseline to give the Bears a shot to tie.
Southwest tied it at 70-70 on a putback layup.
Jones had one chance to win the game with 7.2 seconds left in regulation but dribbled the ball out of bounds.
Southwest scored the first 13 points in the extra period and would outscore Jones 17-5 to win by a dozen.
Leflore finished with a career-high 22 points, six steals and four rebounds. Hubbard had 12 points and six rebounds and both Wilson and Hunter added 11 each.
Raygan Faulkner had nine points.
Jones shot 38 percent from the floor and finished with a season-high 23 steals.
