PERKINSTON – Mississippi Gulf Coast hit 16 three-pointers, 10 of them from freshman Dekyra Mitchell, to run away from Jones, 71-47, Monday night at Dantzler Arena.
MGCCC stayed unbeaten in league play, improving to 9-6 overall, 3-0 in the MACCC. Jones dropped to 3-12, 0-3 MACCC.
The Bobcats have lost 19 straight on the road.
Tied at 15-all through one quarter, MGCCC slowly started to pull away.
The Bulldogs didn't have a two-point bucket the opening 20 minutes, scoring all 33 points off 11 threes. The last one banked in before the first-half buzzer to give MGCCC a 33-27 lead.
Zharia Leflore had 10 of her team-high 15 points in the opening half and
Larissa Hubbard eight of her 12.
MGCCC would go on to outscore Jones 38-20 in the second half.
They outscored the Bobcats 18-4 to start the final period and put the game away.
Aasia Wilson had eight points and 10 rebounds behind Leflore's 15 points and Hubbard's 12 points and seven rebounds.
Mitchell led all scorers with 30 points and Allison Irby had 11 points and 12 rebounds.
Jones shot 40 percent from the floor against 34 percent for the Bulldogs.
Jones will host Northwest Thursday, Jan. 23 at 5:30 looking for its first MACCC win.
