SENATOBIA – Jones forced a fourth set at Northwest after falling behind 2-0, but couldn't complete the comeback in a 3-1 loss to the Rangers Wednesday night at Howard Coliseum.
Northwest won its ninth straight match to improve to 13-6, 2-0 MACCC. Jones dropped to 11-3, 1-1 in league play.
The Rangers won the first two sets 25-17, 25-16, Jones won the third set 25-20 and Northwest closed the match with a 25-18 win in the fourth.
Ainslee Copeland finished with a team-high 11 kills and
LeAnn Lambert had nine.
Emily Boudreaux,
Adelaide Egner and
Annie Woolbright all had double digit kills in extended playing time.
Jones hit .197 as a team with 45 kills, 22 errors and five service aces.
Rachel Stegall had 17 kills and seven aces to lead the Rangers.
Northwest hit .191 with 47 kills, 20 errors and 12 aces.
Jones heads to rival Pearl River on Monday for a 6 p.m. first serve.
