ELLISVILLE – Nearly two years after announcing the addition of women's volleyball, Jones finally played its inaugural match Monday night at A.B. Howard Gymnasium.
The Bobcats blanked Wallace State-Selma 3-0 (25-17, 25-9, 25-5) in just over an hour to pick up win No. 1 for the program and first-year head coach
John Dussouy.
In a back-and-forth opening set, Jones used a 13-6 run to pull away from a 12-11 lead and never looked back in the match.
Harmony Jackson led the Bobcats with 11 kills, followed by
Alanah Fitch and
LeAnn Lambert with six apiece.
Sara Akins had a team-best 10 digs.
All 14 Bobcats who dressed saw the floor.
Jones owned a 38-14 kill advantage and held the Patriots to a dismal .120 attack percentage.
Jones hits the road for a trio of matches Wednesday and Thursday in Alabama.
