ELLISVILLE – No. 11 Jones College cruised to a 9-0 decision over the No. 18 Coastal Alabama-South Coyotes here Wednesday afternoon at the Bobcat Tennis Complex.
Jones is now 9-0 overall. The Bobcats will travel to Senatobia on Thursday to play conference matches vs. Northeast at 12:30 p.m. and Northwest at 3 p.m. Jones hosts No. 13 Wallace State (Alabama) at 1 p.m. Saturday.
Molly Bennett (Madison Central) and
Helen Hernandez (Venezuela) beat Sophie Smith and Sydney Cohen in No. 1 doubles, 8-2.
Guadalupe Tocci (Argentina) and
Daniela Tovar (Venezuela) blanked Julianne Legg and Abigail Carlson in No. 2 doubles, 8-0.
Maggie Savell (Park Place Christian Academy) and
Annalyn Housley (Nettleton) defeated Hannah Vosteen and Lena Spears in No. 3 doubles, 8-4. In an extra match,
Ansley Tomkins (Northwest Rankin) and
Annabelle Simmons (Lamar School) beat Mya Scaffer and Mallory Verzone, 8-0.
Hernandez outlasted Smith in No. 1 singles, 7-6, 4-6, 10-4 and Tocci beat Legg in No. 2 singles, 6-1, 6-1. Tovar downed Vosteen in No. 3 singles, 6-2, 6-1 and Bennett shut out Cohen, 6-0, 6-0, in No. 4 singles. Housley blanked Spears in No. 5 singles, 6-0, 6-0 and Savell did the same to Carlson in No. 6 singles, 6-0, 6-0. In extra matches, Tomkins beat Schaeffer, 6-2, 6-2 and Simmons defeated Verzone, 6-2, 6-2.
The Coyotes (7-2) host Central Alabama on Monday.
