ELLISVILLE – The 11th-rated Jones College Bobcats posted an impressive 9-0 victory over No. 12 Mississippi Gulf Coast here Tuesday afternoon at the Bobcat Tennis Complex.
It was the Bobcats' 12th straight victory over the Bulldogs and their 69th consecutive MACCC victory.
Jones is now 8-0 overall and 4-0 in the conference. MGCCC falls to 5-1 overall, 4-1 in the MACCC.
In No. 1 doubles,
Molly Bennett (Madison Central) and
Helen Hernandez (Venezuela) beat Angela Moreno and Danique Vermue, 8-3.
Guadalupe Tocci (Argentina) and
Daniela Tovar (Venezuela) beat Valeria Callejo and Kendall Burn in No. 2 doubles, 8-3.
Maggie Savell (Park Place Christian Academy) and
Annalyn Housley (Nettleton) beat Mikenzy Dubrow and Lauren Sullivan in No. 3 doubles, 8-4.
Hernandez beat Moreno in No. 1 singles, 6-2, 6-2 and Tocci defeated Vermue in No. 2 singles, 6-1, 6-3. Tovar edged Callejo in No. 3 singles, 7-5, 7-6 and Bennett whipped Burn in No. 4 singles, 6-2, 6-0. Housley defeated Sullivan in No. 5 singles, 6-2, 6-2 and Savell rallied to beat Niyah Strickland in No. 6 singles, 3-6, 7-5, 10-6.
The Bobcats host Northeast in a 2 p.m. match on Tuesday. MGCCC hosts Hinds on March 5.
