Bobcats come up short in Booneville, 63-55

BOONEVILLE – Jones battled for four quarters but came up just short, 63-55, Monday night at Bonner Arnold Coliseum against Northeast.

Northeast improved to 19-9, 7-5 MACCC while the Bobcats dropped to 5-17 and 1-10 in league play.

Tied 30-30 at the half, the Tigers outscored the Bobcats 19-8 in the third quarter to take control of the game.

Neither team led by more than two possessions in the opening half, with Jones' largest lead 26-22 with 6:05 left in the half.

Aasia Wilson had a big first half and closed with 20 points and 10 boards for her fourth double-double and Valencia McFall had 17 and nine.

Northeast led by as many as 16 in the fourth but saw Jones trim it in half.

Jones outshot Northeast 41 to 35 percent, but was beaten at the free throw line. 

The Tigers hit 19-of-22 free throws against 6-of-14 for the Bobcats. 

Jones welcomes No. 11 Pearl River to A.B. Howard Gymnasium on Thursday, Feb. 29.
