ELLISVILLE – Mississippi Delta outscored Jones College 37-16 in the second half and defeated the Bobcats 66-45 here Thursday night at A.B. Howard Gymnasium.
The game was tied 29-29 at halftime, but the Trojans scored the first six points of the second half and were never threatened.
Jones led 18-14 after the first quarter, but fell behind 27-20 midway through the second period.
Aasia Wilson's (West Jones) layup up at the buzzer tied the game going into intermission.
The Bobcats were down 39-35 midway through the third quarter, but the Trojans outscored them 11-2 the rest of the period to go up 50-37 heading into the final period. The Bobcats would not get any closer.
Wilson led the Bobcats with 23 points and three steals.
Khyla Ragins (Harrison Central) added 10 points, five assists, four rebounds and three steals.
Allison Liddell (Horn Lake) had four steals.
Katelyn Coleman led MDCC with 18 points and eight rebounds, Ti'Alone Banks added 16 points, Lauren Lain had 14 and Lauren Nelson had 12.
The Trojans outrebounded Jones, 38-21, and outscored the Bobcats, 38-24, on points in the paint.
Jones was 17-of-44 from the field for 39 percent, 4-of-16 from beyond the arc for 25 percent and 7-of-8 from the free throw line for 88 percent. MDCC was 30-of-59 from the floor for 51 percent, 2-of-8 from 3-point range for 25 percent and 4-of-8 from the foul line for 50 percent.
Jones falls to 5-16 overall and 1-9 in the MACCC. The Trojans are now 15-8 overall and 5-6 in the conference.
The Bobcats visit Northeast for a 5:30 p.m. Monday game. MDCC hosts Northeast on Feb. 29.
