GOODMAN – Jones College dropped a 68-60 decision to Holmes here Thursday night at Frank Branch Coliseum.
The Bobcats led 38-30 at halftime and 49-45 going into the final quarter, but could not sustain the lead.
Valencia McFall (St. Martin) had 23 points and 11 rebounds to lead Jones and
La'Genesis Johnson (Choctaw County) had 14 points and 10 boards for her sixth double-double.
Bella Roberts had 22 points for the Bulldogs with Zi'A Shields adding 16 and Darranya Wright and Savannah Hailey scoring 11 points each. Kelsey Federick had 10 rebounds.
Jones was 25-of-61 from the floor for 41 percent, 6-of-24 from 3-point range for 25 percent and just 4-of-4 from the foul line for 100 percent. The Bulldogs were 24-of-64 from the field for 38 percent, 7-of-26 from 3-point range for 27 percent and 13-of-17 from the free throw line for 77 percent.
Holmes outrebounded Jones, 36-31. The Bobcats committed 23 turnovers compared to 13 for the Bulldogs.
Jones, 5-15 overall and 1-8 in the MACCC, hosts Mississippi Delta Feb. 22 at 5:30 p.m.
Holmes, 13-8 and 4-4, goes to MDCC on Feb. 20.
