ELLISVILLE –
LJ Hackman scored a career-high 27 points to pace five Bobcats in double figures as No. 9 Jones ran away from Piney Woods Post Grad in the second half for a 100-48 victory.
The Bobcats improved to 3-0 after the first of four straight home games.
Jones led just 36-29 at the break but opened the second half on a 12-0 run to put the game out of reach.
Tied at 18-18 at the 8:52-mark, a
Jylan Howze layup sparked an 8-0 run capped by a pair of
Dimp Pernell free throws.
Hackman had 19 of his 27 in the second half and
Malik Franklin had 11 of his 17 the final 20 minutes.
Jones shot a sizzling 54 percent and scored 64 points in the second half.
After a 12-0 run, Jones followed that up with a 16-0 run to extend the lead to 64-31 with 12:11 to play.
Ky Pernell had 14 points and both
Jylan Howze and
Dimp Pernell had 10 apiece.
Avery Thomas II had seven points and nine rebounds.
The Tornados were led by 21 off the bench from Malachi Cowan.
Jones host ASU Mid-South Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
