ELLISVILLE – LSU Eunice never led in the first half, but an 8-0 run by the Bengals to start the second helped the visitors knock off Jones College in its home-opener, 78-69.
Jones scored the game's first seven points, including a three-pointer from
Raygan Faulkner, and
Carolina de Domingo assisted on all three buckets.
The Bobcats never trailed the opening 20 minutes and led 33-29 at the break.
Aasia Wilson had 12 points to lead all scorers in the half and added four boards.
LSUE scored the first eight points of the third quarter to take a 35-33 lead and never trailed again. The Bengals outscored Jones 27-11 in the third quarter.
The LSUE lead was 12 after three quarters and they'd never let Jones get back within eight.
The Bobcats committed 38 turnovers against 18 assists.
Jones shot 37 percent for the game and just 22 of 36 from the stripe. LSUE was 36 percent from the floor and hit 20 of 29 free shots.
Wilson had a double-double with 21 points and 10 boards, the sixth of her career. Faulkner added 14 and
K'Lylah Stovall had nine points.
Shay Hunter and Domingo had six assists apiece. Hunter also had seven points.
Jones will play at No. 9 Shelton State Saturday, Nov. 9 at 2 p.m. in Tuscaloosa.
