Box Score TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Jones College found the going rough in its first road trip of the season.
The Bobcats dropped a 97-50 decision to No. 9 Shelton State here Saturday afternoon at the Umphrey Center.
Jones scored the first basket of the game, but the Bucs responded to take a 30-12 lead after the first quarter. The Bucs outscored the Bobcats 16-4 in the second quarter to take a 46-16 advantage at halftime.
Shelton State led 74-32 going into the final quarter.
The Bobcats made only 2-of-16 three-point attempts and were out-rebounded, 58-32. For the game, Jones was 15-of-52 from the floor for 29 percent and the Bucs made 35-of-78 shots for 45 percent.
Teeale Wells (D'Iberville) led Jones with nine points and
Carolina de Domingo (Spain) added seven.
Anna-Patrice Patterson (Bay Springs) had nine rebounds to pace the Bobcats.
Shelton State (3-0) had five players in double figures, led by Janiyah Bone's 19 points. Julie Nekolna had 13 points and 13 rebounds.
Jones (0-2) hosts ASU Mid-South at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Shelton State travels to East Mississippi on Monday.
