Bobcats blow past defending NJCAA DII Champs, 118-62

WEST MEMPHIS, Ark. – Avery Thomas II had 13 of his game-high 22 points in the opening half to pace five Bobcats in double figures and No. 9 Jones blew past defending NJCAA Division II National Champs, National Park College, 118-62.

Jones moved to 2-0 on the season, winning its games during the Greyhound Tip-Off Classic by 46 and 56 points.

The Bobcats shot a blistering 57 percent in the opening 20 minutes, on 20 of 35 shooting, to take a commanding 52-25 lead at half.

Jones continued to pour it on the final half as 13 different players found the scoring column.

Behind Thomas' 22, DJ Davis had 17, LJ Hackman 16, Kylan Howze 12 and Malik Franklin 10. 

Eight Bobcats combined to make 16 threes, including Kaison Saunders who banked one in as the shot clock went off. 

Jones had 14 blocks, including five from Tre Pullins in the game's final eight minutes. Jones also forced 24 NPC turnovers while committing just nine of its own.

The Bobcats shot 56 percent from the floor and 53 percent from deep. Jones had 29 assists on 44 made field goals. 

After two blowout wins, Jones will play its next four games at A.B. Howard Gymnasium beginning with Piney Woods Post Grad on Wednesday, Nov. 6 at 6 o'clock.
