MOBILE, Ala. – Jones could not shake off a 3 for 16 start from the floor, quickly falling behind by double digits in the first quarter of a 76-55 loss at Bishop State Friday afternoon.
The Bobcats fell to 1-3 while the Wildcats won their second straight to move to 2-4.
Jones was gifted a free throw before the opening tip because of an administrative technical and
K'Lylah Stovall knocked it down.
The Bobcats led 8-5 after
Zharia Leflore's steal and coast-to-coast layup before the Wildcats outscored Jones 20-4 to end the quarter.
BSCC led 39-23 at the half after Jones was just 7 of 28 from the field.
The Bobcats scored nine of the first 13 points of the second half to quickly get within 43-32, with
Shay Hunter sparking the run on a three-pointer.
But Jones would not get within that number the rest of the half in the road loss.
Stovall led three Bobcats in double figures with 16, followed by 14 points, seven rebounds and four steals from Leflore and 11 points and five steals from Hunter.
Jones shot 34 percent for the night and just 2 of 14 from deep. The Wildcats shot 44 percent and out-rebounded Jones 46-29.
BSCC was led by 17 each from Kennedy Vines and Takya Norman, two of four Wildcats in double figures.
The Bobcats continue a rough, four-game road trip Nov. 29 at No. 15 Trinity Valley.
