Box Score MCKINNEY, Texas – The Jones College Bobcats finished in the Top 10 for the first time ever in the NJCAA Division I Tennis Tournament.
The Bobcats posted 19 points and ended up tied for 10th with Pratt College (Kansas).
Tanner Bevard (Sacred Heart) and
Charlie Brady (Australia) won the No. 2 consolation round doubles and
Jackson Peoples (Northwest Rankin) and
Dawson Do (Northwest Rankin) won the No. 3 consolation round doubles.
Mississippi Gulf Coast finished 15th, Meridian was 17th, East Central finished 18th, Hinds was 20th and Northwest was 26th.
Cowley College (Kansas) was first with 52 points, followed by Tyler (Texas) with 47 and Eastern Florida with 34.
In opening round action on May 15, Jones won all six of its singles matches.
Tomi Nader (Argentina) beat Ayden Anderson of Bevill State (Alabama) in No. 1 singles, 6-2, 6-0 and
Wallace Brewer (Germantown) beat Santiago Castillo of Coastal Alabama-South in No. 2 singles, 6-2, 6-1. Brady defeated Andres Viedman of South Carolina-Sumter in No. 3 singles, 7-6, 3-6, 6-3 and Peoples downed Arthur Van Schaik of Paradise Valley (Arizona) in No. 4 singles, 6-0, 6-3. Bevard beat Brock Dawson of Jacksonville College (Texas) in No. 5 singles, 6-3, 7-5 and Do rallied past Hung Pham of Mesa (Arizona) in No. 6 singles, 0-6, 6-4, 6-4.
In No. 2 doubles, Brady and Bevard lost to Alex Lago and Nafiralo Ouattara of Iowa Central 3-6, 7-5. Peoples and Do fell to Coastal Alabama-South's Castillo and Ethan Cuzzort in No. 3 doubles, 3-6, 7-6, 2-6.
On May 16, Nader lost 2-6, 4-6 to Cowley's Takeshi Taco in No. 1 singles and Brewer dropped a 1-6, 2-6 decision to Eastern Florida's Lucas Gonzales in No. 2 singles. Brady fell to Luke Tinnock of Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College (Georgia) in No. 3 singles, 2-6, 1-6 and Bevard lost to Cowley's Reiya Komagata in No. 5 singles, 1-6, 2-6. Peoples lost to ABAC's Noah Burton in No. 4 singles, 1-6, 0-6 and Do fell to Tyler's Dan Persson in No. 6 singles, 0-6, 0-6.
In No. 1 doubles, Brewer and Nader beat Mississippi Gulf Coast's Anderson Dulaney and Paul Gayk, 0-6, 6-2, 6-2.
On May 17, Bevard and Brady defeated East Central's Carson Jones and Zander Meeks in the No. 2 doubles consolation round, 8-1. Do and Peoples beat Sibususo Dube and Logan Schultz of Lewis and Clark College (Illinois) in the No. 3 doubles consolation round, 8-1.
Brewer and Nader lost to ABAC's Aymen Allmoussa and Safar Rasulov, 2-6, 1-6 in No. 1 doubles.
On May 18, Bevard and Brady beat Northwest's Samuel Turner and Bratton Willoughby in the No. 2 doubles consolation round semifinals, 8-3. Do and Peoples defeated
Tahir El-Zare and Jacob Runnels of Hinds, 8-5, in the No. 3 doubles consolation round semifinals.
On May 19, Bevard and Brady won the No. 2 doubles consolation round title with an 8-3 decision over Meridian's Parker Lyons and Will McCullough. Do and Peoples took the No. 3 doubles consolation round championship with an 8-2 decision over Mesa's Lucas Baruffi and Andrew Hoffman.
